Through our research and educational resources, we take an in-depth look at the Natural Hair Care & Beauty industry to provide insightful information for Natural Hair Care Professionals and Consumers.
I've been using the services from the Natural Hairstyle & Braid Coalition for over a year now and I'm so grateful for the support and encouragement they provide. Their commitment to natural hair advocacy has been inspiring, and I've seen a real transformation in the way I view my own hair since I started using their services. Highly recommend!
The Empire "State" of Natural Hair
The natural hair movement is blossoming, and the numbers tell the story! Active Natural Hairstyling licenses have surged 6% in less than a year, jumping from 405 to 428.
This growth is fueled by two key initiatives:
- Expanded Testing Sites: A second testing site in Troy, NY opened its doors, offering crucial access to licensing opportunities beyond Manhattan.
- Enhanced Programming: New Natural Hair programming is now available, providing aspiring stylists with the knowledge and skills they need to thrive.
The momentum doesn't stop there! Later this year, a third testing site will open in Queens, NY, further shattering geographic barriers and empowering more individuals to join the natural haircare community.
More testing sites translate to more licensed professionals, which means better service, wider availability, and more empowered clients rocking their natural hair with confidence.
C.R.O.W.N. ACT
As of May 2023, 22 states, most recent Texas, have enacted the CROWN Act into law and more than half of all states have filed or prefiled legislation for consideration. About 1 in 10 states have yet to formally examine the CROWN Act
I have been to many natural hair salons but none compare to the Natural Hairstyle & Braid Coalition. The stylists are so knowledgeable and passionate about natural hair care. I love how they take the time to listen to my needs and work with me to create a look that is both stylish and healthy for my hair. I highly recommend them!
“It is not a matter of civil rights, but a matter of human rights. Human rights are not about what society allows us to do. They are about what we are born with the right to do. We have the right to be who we are, to breathe freely, to grow and thrive. Embrace your hair, it is your human right!”
